Ambience
Receive a warm welcome from Chef Laurent Couvreur and his wife Jill at Casanis Bistro Restaurant, where New York efficiency meets Gallic charm. The ambience is cosily upbeat and the food authentically French, with regional specialities and good gutsy flavours. A place where locals feel at home and visitors feel special. With its low lighting and Provençal antiques, Casanis oozes Gallic charm over two floors of a beautiful Georgian building on one of the prettiest lanes in Bath. It’s quietly chic, where you can turn up in jeans or a cocktail dress, trainers or Manolos and still feel right at home.
Listed in The Michelin Guide “Skilful cooking of classic French dishes”, The Good Food Guide “French to its fingertips” and Hardens “Simple, Elegant, Delicious & Refined” it’s clear that Chef Laurent’s talents have not gone unnoticed. At the Bath Good Food Awards, where Casanis scooped the title ‘Best Restaurant 2011’, the judges were impressed with “the beautiful presentation of the dishes which delivered on flavour” and commented “the atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and welcoming. Laurent has brought his Provençale heritage to his cooking using top quality ingredients to create a menu of classic French dishes with a modern, Southern French twist”.
